The instability of modern society deprives people of a sense of security. To form a psychologically safe environment, mediation principles are being introduced into various spheres of life. The effectiveness of the implementation of mediation principles in everyday life depends, among other things, on the interpretation of the principles by people who do not have a mediator's education. The 's projective technique was used for the study. To develop the methodology, 30 people with a document on professional training or advanced training in mediation were involved as experts. The main sample consisted of 110 people who do not have professional training in mediation. We have suggested the existence of peculiarities of interpretation of the principles of mediation by women and men. For data processing and analysis, content analysis, the criterion φ* is the Fisher angular transformation are used. According to the results of the study, men and women interpret confidentiality as a refusal to disclose confidential information, a desire to reduce the significance of the conflict in the eyes of the interlocutor, to end the conversation. The principle of neutrality is interpreted by women in the dyad "woman-man" as a desire to resolve the conflict when the interlocutor admits guilt. In the dyads "woman-woman", "man-woman", "manman", respondents interpret neutrality as a decrease in the significance of the conflict. Women interpret voluntariness as devaluation of the interlocutor's refusal to help, an independent solution to the problem. Respondents in the dyad "man-woman" interpret voluntariness as a desire to understand the reasons for refusing to help, apologies. Women interpret the principle of equality as a discussion of a conflict situation, concessions in a conflict. Men interpret equality as a discussion of ways to resolve a conflict. In the "man-man" dyad, respondents interpret equality as the conclusion of a compromise to resolve the conflict.Downloads
