Abstract

The aim of this research is to identify the understudied aspects of bullying among adolescents. The article explores the essence of ‘bullying’ as a concept and examines research on this phenomenon conducted by both Russian and international. The examination of existing research and its findings makes it possible to identify trends and dynamics in the study of bullying among adolescents as well as establish the causes and consequences of bullying. The paper provides the essential foundation for the definition of bullying and systematizes the existing research findings. Furthermore, the study results highlight the necessity for further research on bullying. The article analyses both Russian and international contemporary research on bullying and underscores the impact of bullying on mental and physical health. The significance of these studies was confirmed empirically, which attests to the quality of the obtained results. Additionally, the study emphasizes the impact of bullying in adolescence on health and safety, as it can be a factor leading to suicide. This highlights the need for timely support of adolescents. Support should be provided to both victims of bullying and aggressors, as deviant behavior requires investigation of the underlying causes and provision of psychological assistance. Family and society can also influence bullying, thus helping to prevent it. Their involvement may include the role of parents, teachers and community organizations. Research in the field of bullying holds significant societal importance as it aids in combating this phenomenon and creating a safe environment for adolescents. The results obtained in previous research represent a valuable contribution to this field and can serve as a basis for the development of further measures and programs aimed at preventing bullying.
