Abstract

The article focuses on mentoring in the system of secondary vocational education. The carry out a theoretical analysis of the problem. They examine the concepts of ‘mentoring’, ‘psychological and pedagogical characteristics of a mentor’ and ‘professional competence of a mentor’ and describe the approaches to the study of these concepts in Russian and foreign psychological and pedagogical literature. The article also deals with the modern educational process and considers the effectiveness of teaching and development of students. Mentoring stands out as one of the promising methods of organizing the learning process. The restoration of mentoring practices in education is an important step towards a deeper and more balanced development of students. The article also describes the negative consequences of the lack of mentors in modern secondary vocational schools. The transition from a middle school to a vocational school is an important stage in the life of students, which is associated with a change in both the educational environment itself and pact on the successful adaptation and development of students in a new environment. The mentor acts as a role model, inspirer and guide for students, contributing to the formation of their professional self-determination and personal identity. The mentor helps students to master up-to-date techniques and methods and contributes to the successful adaptation of students in a professional environment. The analyzed scientific literature to determine the stages of solving the tasks of mentoring in the system of vocational education. The article graphically presents the structure of the stages of selection and training of mentors in an educational environment. The process consists of several main stages, and each of them includes several sub-stages. Taking into account the modern trends, the mentoring system is a tool for the effective formation of the personality of a student who is professionally trained to perform his or her major job duties.
