This study aims to explore the relationship between motivation for marriage and attitudes towards uncertainty among young adults. Tolerance for uncertainty, as a personal trait, refers to a tendency to view uncertain situations positively, as opportunities for growth and learning. We hypothesize that motivation for marriage may be related to how individuals cope with uncertainty and life challenges. The study involved 60 participants, with 30 males and 30 females aged 20–25. To gather data, we used the ‘General Tolerance for Uncertainty Scale’ by D. McLane, adapted by E.N. Osin, the ‘Tolerance for Uncertainty Questionnaire’ by T.V. Kornilova, the ‘Motives for Marriage’ questionnaire developed by S.I. Golod and the ‘Family Readiness Assessment’ test by I.F. Yunda. Shapiro–Wilk test was used to check the normality of the sample distribution. Data analysis was carried out using the Spearman correlation coefficient. The results showed that a positive attitude towards uncertainty (high tolerance) leads to a more conscious choice of marriage motives and the creation of a stable marriage. A negative attitude towards uncertainty and a low tolerance for it, on the other hand, result in decisions driven by the feelings of loneliness and chance. Based on these results, practical recommendations were developed.Downloads
