Abstract

As the education system is undergoing modernization, there is a need to review the activities of psychological services and search for the most effective forms of work. The main objective of such services is to create conditions fostering the successful learning and psychological development of every schoolchild. To optimize the psychological and pedagogical support of the educational process in primary school, in our work we use a complex of neuropsychological methods, which is integral to the model we have developed for neuropsychological support of younger schoolchildren. Our approach is methodologically based on research by Russian specialists, which confirms the effectivetions in primary schoolchildren and is best suited for diagnostic screening examinations performed by school psychologists. We have identified the following goals of providing neuropsychological support to primary schoolchildren: 1. Systematic monitoring of the child’s neuropsychological status and the dynamics of the development of higher mental functions during learning in primary school. Neuropsychological group diagnostics are carried out every academic year according to the schedule in the Gymnasium educational plan. 2. Establishing socio-psychological conditions for the comprehensive development of students’ personality and their successful learning. To implement this goal, teachers and parents must be involved in the support process. Such process is built according to flexible schemes and can change and transform depending on the neuropsychological tasks and characteristics of the children. 3. Creating special socio-psychological conditions to provide assistance to children with difficulties with mastering the educational plan and psychological development. This goal is targeted at the category of ‘children with learning difficulties’. A system of actions and specific activities is being developed to provide psychological and pedagogical assistance to this category of children and overcome or compensate for the learning difficulties they may have. The article presents the ’s model of neuropsychological support. It is a holistic and systematically organized activity which includes five basic stages. The main goal of creating the system of psychological and pedagogical support for the educational process using neuropsychological diagnostic group methods to study educational difficulties, including potential ones, in students in grades I–IV of primary school is to organize effective advisory, preventive and developmental work involving all the participants in the educational process (school students, teachers and parents).
